In Minecraft Bedrock Beta 1.26.0.27, the recent optimization applied to point lights causes several visual issues when multiple light sources are placed close together.
When many point light sources are nearby, some lights stop rendering entirely, and newly placed light sources do not appear instantly. Instead, there is a noticeable delay before the point light becomes visible. This behavior makes lighting feel inconsistent and unstable.
This optimization negatively affects visual clarity and immersion, especially in enclosed environments such as caves, corridors, and interiors. The sudden disappearance of point lights or delayed loading gives the impression of a rendering bug rather than a smooth performance optimization.
Instead of abruptly disabling point lights, a better approach could be:
Dynamic prioritization of nearby light sources
Smooth fade-in transitions for newly placed lights
A graphics or performance option that allows players to scale point light intensity or limit the number of active point lights
This would preserve visual consistency while still maintaining performance on lower-end devices.
