We can all agree that the F3 screen is critical for most of us players. Without it, we can't know our coordinates and the number of days played or other stuff more technical like knowing your FPS and light levels or combinations like F3 + B (hitboxes) and F3 + G (chunks). They're great and all, but it feels like cheating, and I believe there is some wasted potential there. Perhaps the solution is not to remove the screen entirely, but to reduce it. I believe that this screen can be purely for monitoring performance, light levels and such, not for usual gameplay features.
- Astronomy Introduced
This is a new science that can be introduced into the game, which makes more of a use for nighttime. Not only will players have another reason not to skip every night, but we will also make use of constellations. Perhaps there could even be another item like a telescope, astrolabe or chronometer, which makes use of the sun at noon or the new Polaris (North Star) at night to determine coordinates. There could also be a book for collecting constellations, and an achievement for collecting every constellation in the game. Compasses can be used to determine directions alongside spawn. From witchcraft to science, this concept has a lot of potential.
- Calendars
Minecraft can have its very own calendar, with special months and even years! They can be used to determine the number of days played.
- Biome Journal
For determining biome type and temperatures.
There's a lot of freedom here. What do you think?
