Dear Mojang Team,
I’m writing as a long-time Minecraft player who deeply values the care and quality that define the game. Minecraft remains one of the best-designed games ever made, which is why I’m concerned about its long-term cultural relevance, especially among younger players.
Increasingly, many families are noticing that children are gravitating toward platforms like Roblox — often with siblings or friends joining them there — while Minecraft is something they return to only occasionally. This isn’t because Minecraft is worse; in many ways it is far higher quality. Rather, Roblox offers instant access, discovery, and social momentum. Kids seem to live in Roblox, while they visit Minecraft.
Minecraft already has the foundations of a platform: community game modes, servers, and custom experiences. However, these are hidden behind friction such as server IPs, external launchers, and limited discovery. An optional, centralized Experiences Hub—accessible from the main menu—could provide one-click access to curated community experiences, discovery features, and faster iteration in a clearly separated space.
This approach could put Minecraft ahead of Roblox. Unlike Roblox, Minecraft also offers a timeless core survival game where players can slow down, build freely, and play privately with close friends or family. Combining a modern platform layer with this deeply personal sandbox experience would preserve Minecraft’s legacy while strengthening its future.
