It is always so frustrating when you forget to stand up your cat just so they can sleep with you that night. I propose that it makes far more sense for the sitting instruction to be overridden for cats when the owner gets into bed, so that you don't need to remember to tell your can to stand when you want items from the pool.
Cats are sitting 99% of the time in this game, and it wastes precious brain-space to remember to stand them up when it really feels like the cats should go to the bed whether they were told to sit or not.
When standing, cats will run up to or directly teleport to your bed from blocks away, so why can't this property of their AI be maintained when they are sitting. At least in Bedrock, cats that have teleported to your bed, instantly teleport back to the spot they were, including the item, instead of being next to your bed when you wake.
So, it should not matter whether the cats are standing or sitting when it comes to sleeping with you and getting the materials from its gather pool.
