I think we are due for these feature, and I think they can really fit into a thematic update. For player to look forward and manage their expectation, a positive growth in content is needed. With the current situation, I think Mojang can have a moderately sized update without burnout rather than drops
- Fulfilling promises would recover Mojang’s reputation. The largest one we have are the biome votes. The remaining: desert, badlands and the savanna have a a tropical wasteland theme.
- The village overhaul is awesome! The desert and jungle temples are the next oldest structure in Minecraft, and it deserves an update after the villages. Keeping the look mostly the same from outside is still important, but alongside the legacy room, I think it would be cool to shake things up with some new possible rooms.
- The developer express the will to improve the survival experience and its accessibility. I think the following really fit the theme
1. Combat update and the rest of villager trade rebalancing. These are mostly ready and need the final touches, which the devs can really focus on pushing them out. Hopefully that won’t be too stressful of a demand
2. Inventory changes: this is more complex than “adding a backpack”, but the issue of inventory still lurks on and need systematic changes.
3. Maybe materialise some Minecart changes? Sure, elytra are overpowered, but it is also too unviable even compared to horses. It is best to ground this to existing feature like furnace minecart though.
