I understand the new system of having 4 seasonal “drops” in a year, but they don’t bring enough to the game like the old annual updates did. You’ve mentioned how these “drops” would vary in size, however so far (up to the end of 2025) they’ve only introduced a few items or mobs which have barely influenced how I play the game (such as the spear that seems way too similar to the trident). So there were two benefits of having big yearly updates; more content was added and more importantly it filled in a core aspect of the game and would be very useful and common to find (an example would be Update Aquatic of 1.13 when many structures, blocks, mobs and items were put into the oceans that used to be very empty, so now there was plenty to explore). Everything felt new every year, therefore the game looked completely different than the year before. This is the reason why most people think a drop for example The Garden Awakens of 2024 doesn’t feel like a part of the game, it’s almost impossible to find and isn’t really important when exploring the world (even if you do find it, there’s little to see and you can skip it entirely, because it’s just a forest with no proper use other than its wood as a resource). As you can see, it doesn’t help you in progressing through the game at all and makes players lose interest very quickly (there aren’t even any rewards from doing a challenge like killing a hostile mob). Whatever it is, it needs to fit in with the rest of the game.
