Subject: Implementation of Obsidian Tools: High Sharpness with Brittle Durability
Description:
Hi Mojang! Since Obsidian is one of the hardest blocks to mine and is world-renowned for its extreme sharpness in real life, I would like to suggest adding Obsidian-based weapons and tools to Minecraft.
To ensure this doesn't replace Diamond or Netherite, I suggest the following mechanics to keep it balanced:
Extreme Sharpness: Obsidian weapons could deal higher raw damage than Diamond, reflecting its real-world properties where it can be sharper than steel.
The "Brittle" Property: To balance its power, Obsidian tools should have low durability. In reality, obsidian is like glass—it is hard but shatters easily upon impact. This makes it a high-risk, high-reward choice for players.
Non-Enchantable: Perhaps these tools cannot be enchanted with traditional enchantments. This ensures that a fully enchanted Netherite sword remains the ultimate endgame weapon, while Obsidian serves as a powerful temporary alternative.
Unique Mechanic: Adding a "Bleed" effect or a specialized "Dagger" variant would give players more strategic variety in combat.
I believe this would give players more meaningful uses for Obsidian and add a unique tier of equipment to the game's progression.
