Functions
Mail armor, being less strong than iron, must have a different function and crafting method, despite its rarity. My idea is that the mail drop isn't armor,Rather, an attachment for others. What it improves is protection; I'm not looking for more to be added, but an improvement. Historically, in the Middle Ages, chainmail deflected projectiles and attacks from time to time.It can deflect light attacks, swords, arrows, among others, but not heavy attacks such as mace attacks or explosions.Besides providing protection, the mesh offers lightness due to its good weight distribution with the armor.
Aesthetics
The mesh would go under the base armor and would only be noticeable at the edges and seams, such as the neck and arms.
Wear and tear and repair
As previously explained, the mesh disperses the damage, therefore it is distributed; the base armor absorbs a large part of the damage and the mesh a smaller amount of it.To repair everything, it is separated; the base armor is repaired normally, and the mail only needs iron ingots added to strengthen it.They are rejoined normally once the repair of both is complete.
Extra
The crafting process uses iron chains. I only explained its basic function, and I'll be around to see future features if Mojang decides to implement them. Thanks for reading.😁
