Ever had this experience? You've adventured your way, in single-player, through a trial chamber; slaying all the mobs like a pro and opening all the vaults. But then...all of the vaults are opened...And you are left with a boat-load more trial keys than you can use.
But you can't just throw them away, right? They feel too precious for that. So you keep them in your storage system forever, saying you'll go use them in a new trial chamber, but finding you just keep adding to the collection instead.
Well, I propose exactly what the title suggests: make the keys smeltable into copper nuggets, like other metal tools. This would give the keys a very easy second use, so you don't just leave them in your storage, but could also be a handy source of nuggets if you just can't be bothered to go mining, but want some chains (or otherwise run out of copper).
Let's be honest, it's not like peoples' main source of iron is the nuggets from iron tools, same for gold and copper. But it feels really good to not have to just chuck the tools in lava, right? Well, same here. Simple as that. Just a really nice quality-of-life feature, which are actually my favorite Minecraft features to begin with--the simple things are beautiful to see.
