The new 26.x system Mojang is testing creates unnecessary confusion, especially for Java players.
Java has used 1.xx versioning for 15+ years, and it is deeply connected to our history, mod ecosystem, and community identity.
My proposal:
✔ Java stays exactly as it is: 1.xx.x
Clear, stable, iconic, and familiar for players & modders.
✔ Bedrock switches to 26.x (year-based) versioning
This fits Bedrock perfectly and keeps both platforms easy to understand.
✔ Bedrock hotfixes use small suffixes instead of jumping numbers:
Example:
26.1B
26.1C
26.1D
This prevents Bedrock from reaching something like 26.70 while Java stays at 26.4.

⭐ IMPORTANT (for players who are worried)
This DOES NOT cancel major updates.
This DOES NOT remove or replace the End Update.
This only adjusts numbering — NOT content.
Players simply want clarity, not confusion.
This solution keeps both communities happy while supporting Mojang’s goals.
Thank you.
