Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Add Claim Toggle for Beds and Workstations (Decorative Mode)

Summary

Add a simple on/off toggle to beds and workstations that allows players to decide if villagers can claim them. This gives builders more freedom, prevents accidental profession changes, and removes frustration when placing decorative blocks in villages.

Problem Statement

In the current game, villagers automatically detect and claim any nearby:

  • Beds

  • Workstations 

This creates several problems:

  • Villagers steal beds that players place for decoration or temporary use.
  • Villagers automatically claim workstations, changing their profession unintentionally.
  • Builders cannot freely use beds or workstation-type blocks for interior decoration without disrupting the entire villager system.
  • Proposed Feature: Claim Toggle (“Decorative Mode”)

     

How it Works

  • Each bed and workstation gains a toggleable state:

    • Active (villagers can claim)

    • Decorative (villagers cannot claim)

Visual Indicators

  • Slight texture outline or corner marker

  • A short particle poof when toggled

Block Behavior

  • Villagers cannot detect beds or workstations that are set to Decorative mode.

  • Decorative blocks behave normally for players (beds still sleep.)

  • Freedom to use beds, barrels, lecterns, composters, and more strictly as decorations.

  • Better control over villager trading halls.

  • No more villagers claiming the wrong workstation.

  • No more running around a village competing for beds.

Why This Fits Minecraft

  • Adds player control without complexity.

  • Enhances creativity.

  • Reduces frustration.

  • Aligns with Mojang’s recent QoL-focused design philosophy.

    I really want this to be seamless and easy for players to operate.   If it's coded too confusing and it leaves players wondering why their villagers aren't working, then it may not work.  I'm so tired of seeing villagers go where they are not supposed to and I know its a frustrating feature for many players.   Also I can code this myself and it does not take away from the core villager coding that is already in place.
