What I’m Suggesting
Strength and Weakness should affect thrown trident damage, not just melee damage.
Why This Should Happen
Right now, Strength potions only boost melee trident damage, not thrown damage. But throwing a trident clearly comes from the player’s physical strength, so it makes sense for these effects to apply to throws as well.
The trident is already very weak when it’s not raining, especially since rain only happens in the Overworld and many biomes don’t get rain at all. Letting Strength boost thrown trident damage would keep the weapon usable outside of rain. I like that the trident becomes super strong during rain—that’s part of its identity—but letting Strength affect thrown tridents would balance it during all the times when it’s not raining or in places where rain cannot happen. It wouldn’t match its strong rainy-day power spike, but it would still be a viable option and worth using, which feels properly balanced.
Even if Strength wasn’t originally meant to apply to projectiles, the trident is a special case where an exception would make sense. Allowing Strength to boost thrown trident damage would strengthen the trident’s unique role as both a melee and ranged weapon and make it much more enjoyable to use without hurting its rainy-day identity.
How It Could Work
Simply apply the Strength and Weakness effects to thrown trident damage the same way they already apply to melee attacks. No new mechanics are needed—just consistent behavior.
