A lot of people didn't really liked the new system and even though I think it's pretty good I still want to list some other ideas to keep in mind:
YY.X.XX: a simple change to make Java and Bedrock have the same version with the only difference being the bugfixes. For example: both can be the 26.1.xx and just have a different number at the end.
YY.Xa: a more simple way of numbering having again the same version in both editions and having up to 26 bugfixes indicated by a letter at the end. For example: we get the 26.1a and then some bugfixes come out in the 26.1b
1.XX.Xa: a way to have something similar to the actual numbering system and at the same time having the same version number in both versions and a simple way to know when an update/drop only has bugfixes. For example: 1.22.1a. In case you don't want to have a really big number because of the drop (like 1.22.23a) you can either increase the second number every year (1.22.Xa, 1.23.Xa, etc) or you can do it every drop but this one might lead to the second number being too big (like 1.34.Xa in just 3 years)
In my opinion the last one will be the most liked one, the easiest to understand and the most consistent one between both versions. Some changes could also be done for snapshots but I think that's not too problematic. There WILL be people who'll miss the classic YYwWWa system but the new one works well too.
