New version but old style

Servers are struggling right now to find a good solution between keeping 1.8 PVP System but also using the new blocks to build stuff. My solution to this problem is creating a new version (maybe also name it completely different) with 1.8-like pvp system and 1.7 or 1.8-like sneaking. This would help the community to run the servers on an universally agreed version and keeps the player base that are partly boycotting the new versions on Minecraft Servers.
