People has been complaining about diamond being too common and armor trims being too expensive to use even in mid game for a while now so I have a few suggestions to solve these and even more problems:
First, diamonds should be way rarer and diamond gear tradings should be really expensive. In just a single cave with 2 friends of mine we were able to each get 1-2 stacks of diamond in our first minecraft days and we weren't even rushing. It's so common that making a full set is pretty easy for how long it lasts since diamond has a lot of durability so you will get a lot of diamonds before your gear breaks.
Secondly, a really simple fix to trims is to make them cheap to dupe but keep the upgrade template with the same recipe or maybe something similar but with less diamonds so you still need diamonds for that but you can use trims in early game. Something like only requiring the same stone or copper instead of diamonds is enough.
Lastly, make using the enchanting table and anvil pretty cheap and nerf the librarians so people don't depend too much on trading to get good enchantments and therefore they don't get afraid of losing their gear since they can replace it or repair it more easily. This would also make enchantability more important and make chainmail, gold and netherite more worth it.
With this we fix: diamonds being too common, armor trims being too expensive, villagers being too op, enchanting tables and anvils being almost useless and enchantability being irrelevant!
