gilded copper gear

copper armor, tools and weapons dont have really much uniqueness to offer, at same time smiting table has only two uses, netherite upgrade and trims

adding gilding template, and letting us coat copper items by gold would make sense by real life logic as well as gameplay in my opinion, gilding templates could be found in various chests in structures and sold by smith villagers, and could be copied once owned in similar manners netherite and trim templates can

gilded items would break into copper items (loosing only golden coating), durability of gilded gear should be about as golden, leaving behind copper tool preserving enchantments, letting you gild it again to improve its stats temporarily

all gilded items would enchant better but not all way to match pure gold items with this

gilded tools could have increased mining speed but not improved mining level, speed could be faster than iron tools but slower than gold tools

gilded armor could have same stats as copper armor, however decreasing agro distance of piglins by 25%, all 4 gilded pieces would have then same effect as single gold piece (making piglins neutral), logic would be that piglin would respect you more with gilded armor but not as much as pure golden armor, unless work full set

gilded items and gilding template could be picked up by piglins same as other golden items

maybe also gilding copper golems when in statue form, resulting in fancy gilded statue, or if scraped, gilded golem could move faster or more items at once
