Since the time they made mobs that are on fire able to set you on fire when hitting you, Fire Aspect lost all its flair. There is barely any case where using this enchantment is not detrimental to you in some way. Hitting a mob and then catching on fire is incredibly common when using this enchantment, and due to the unpredictable, uncontrollable, and chaotic nature of combat in this game, where enemies just swarm you with little strategy, it becomes borderline impossible to micromanage your hits so they do not affect you, and for the effort to be worth it, in my opinion.
My suggestion is simple: make mobs affected by Fire Aspect unable to set you on fire when hitting you with a melee attack. How? Simple—instead of making enemies literally on fire, you apply some type of “scorched” effect to the enemy that does not propagate to you. This effect can look like a red fire (in real fire, red fire is generally low-intensity fire) and do the same damage as fire but does not propagate.
This would make this enchantment useful at the level of prior versions and give more strategy to combat.
