Hello Minecraft Community,
I play Minecraft Java Edition on a ChromeOS device, and I’m among the few players using Linux-supported accounts. My personal experience with the game is excellent, but I’ve run into a serious issue regarding storage. Minecraft itself occupies a monumental amount of space, taking up nearly half of my 30GB device—without even including worlds, mods, or additional content. Currently, I only have about 1GB of free space left.
This has become a major problem, as it prevents me from working on coding projects—whether HTML, Java, or other experiments—because I have to delete them just to maintain enough room for the game. Even general browsing and other activities have been affected due to the limited storage.
I understand that this isn’t entirely Minecraft’s fault; Java Edition is inherently large and comes with many scripts and resources. Still, the storage requirements feel prohibitive for smaller devices like Chromebooks.
I’m hoping the community and developers can consider possible solutions, such as improved storage optimization, modular installations, or options to offload unused assets. As a passionate player, I’d love to continue enjoying Minecraft without it monopolizing my entire device.
Thank you for listening, and I hope this can spark discussion on making Minecraft Java more accessible for devices with limited storage.
