There are many redstone circuits in survival worlds that aren’t compact enough to stay hidden, so players usually cover them with blocks, stairs, or slabs to keep things looking nice.
However, there’s a problem — if you place redstone dust on a supporting block, you can’t put a slab on top of it. This leaves visible gaps and ruins the visual design of our beautiful Minecraft worlds.
Allowing redstone to exist or function underneath slabs (within the same block space) would let players build cleaner and more aesthetic redstone contraptions without affecting gameplay balance.
