The release of the copper update has everyone talking about Minecraft's progression system again, and I think I have a reasonable solution.
A quickstart/build focused feature. Essentially, a way for casual players to skip the progression system and get to the building without having to do any of the tool grinding. Also good for explorers who want to wander biomes without having to worry about getting one shot by a skeleton.
Of course the current progression system is what we all know and love. But an option where you spawn in with diamond armor and tools (or enchanted iron may be more reasonable) and possibly even an elytra would be a relief to a lot of people. For most that aspect of the game isnt fun (at least not as often as they make new worlds) and I spend a lot of time trying to get my tools up to standard before I feel comfortable gathering resources to build. But a creative world takes some of the fun out of it for me (and gives me decision paralysis). I want to be able to farm materials, but farming to get the tools to farm for materials just makes me not want to play for long periods of time. I think this would be a good way to allow players to focus on building and creativity while still allowing for a survival experience.
Of course you can already do this with cheats. But a system from the game would make it feel like an accessible path and highlight how Mojang supports all playstyles.
It would also create a new category for speedrunning, which could be fun.
