Have you ever accidentally thrown a valuable item into fire or even intentionally thrown something into fire, but then decided that you actually wanted it back? Well, I suggest a simple but helpful change to make that possible:
Instead of fire immediately destroying any items that go into it, it should take around 5-10 seconds for those items to fully burn up before disappearing, which would give the player a small window of time to quickly react and retrieve their items.
While the items would be burning, they would have tiny smoke particles coming up from them. Similar to the ones you see when food gets cooked on a campfire. If / when you retrieve your items, you could take half a heart of damage because of how hot the items are.
Lava would still instantly burn items, however. This keeps it balanced, logical and still within Minecraft’s principles. It would probably be easy to implement as well.
Who else thinks that this would be a good QoL feature?
