Why should I use the spear in singleplayer

So I basically was thinking that after the release of the spear there will be no uses for it in singleplayer it don't adds any helpful mechanics and it is useful only in PvP server so it is actually useless in every other occasion like why should I be enchanting and carrying another item to lunge myself toward so I was thinking you could find something useful in more context than PvP

    It's already useful for the range to deal with mobs like creepers or other mobs with spears

    For the same reason that it's useful to use swords, axes, or maces, the spear has the unique ability of a high jab attack range, and the charge attack can one-shot a lot of mobs! So it's also very useful for single player.
