As a companion to and alternative to Bedrock Edition for macOS, iPad apps are capable of running unmodified in most cases on Apple Silicon Macs.
The first M1 series devices were released 5 years ago in 2020. This is 5 generations of hardware capable of running iPadOS apps.
By marking, in App Store Connect, "Make this app available on Mac", the bedrock edition of Minecraft can be easily made available in the "iPhone & iPad Apps" section of the macOS App Store on Apple Silicon hardware.
This would make the bedrock edition of Minecraft more broadly accessible on Apple platforms. Additionally Apple provides additional APIs with which to optimize iPad apps for Mac displays, which could allow Mojang/Microsoft to maintain a single codebase for both iPad & Mac.
