A player who likes to use trident

The Trident hasn't changed much since the Ocean Update in Minecraft. Now the spear has been updated, and there is a mechanism where the faster it is, the more damage it does. Why not update the trident as well? And why does piercing only increase damage for marine creatures? Puncture and penetration are similar, but puncture cannot break the shield. I hope that the Trident will get what it deserves.
