Infested forests are a variant of dark forests, identifiable by the countless cobwebs among the trees. They're fairly small, and the only mobs that would naturally spawn there are spiders as well as variants of them Mojang might add.
In every infested forest is a special structure: the arachnomancer's throne. It's a mostly flat clearing with a throne in the center upon which the arachnomancer sits, surrounded by a web shield that protects them from all damage.
The arachnomancer wears a dark gray cloak, under which it is hard to see their body, but glowing spider eyes are visible under their hood. If you approach them and press the interact button, you can challenge them, prompting a boss fight. The arachnomancer has 100 hp and three devastating moves:
- Silk Whip-an attack that deals a little damage but has a long reach. If hit by it, a player is stuck in a web for a few seconds.
- Summon Spiders-spawns spiders between them and the player(s). These spiders are automatically hostile and have the weaving status effect if the arachnomancer is below 50 hp. The more players there are, the more spiders spawn.
- Bond-the arachnomancer creates a spectral string between them and a spider. If the spider is defeated, the arachnomancer is healed 10 hp.
The arachnomancer's combat strategy is to get away from all players and have spiders do their bidding. Upon defeat, it drops 500 xp and the Silk Whip, which players can use to deal a little damage to mobs and trap them in place for a few seconds.
