Listen, despite the recent buffs to leads (which I love, an incredible step in the right direction) they are still lacking in a few significant areas. They can be incredibly frustrating to use and do not give the seamless and smooth experience as other items in Minecraft do. I propose that leads teleport to the dominant user if they stray too far, similar to how companions like dogs and cats do. I think this could also lead to interesting and fun applications with the recent changes to the lead, given how the Minecraft community loves to innovate with new changes.
Edit: I meant to include that in certain cases, the lead should not be able to handle the teleport feature. The main example I can think of is if the player uses an elytra, the lead should not allow the player to continue to move the mob. I like the system of using boats (or attaching leads directly to the animal for camels) and happy ghasts to transport mobs long distances
