I would like to propose a way to tell a copper golem what to place within a chest without that item being removed by a hopper, and to make it more difficult to remove for a player, by essentially gluing a copy of the item to one of the chest's slots.
While there are other ways to do this, my specific idea was to create a copper plate (probably similar in recipe to glass panes), which you could combine with an item to make a template of that item (eg combining a plate and an Ender Pearl would make an Ender Pearl Plate). You could then combine that plate with a slime ball and "glue" it to a slot in a chest, where it would lock. Once locked, copper golems could treat that plate as though it were the item in question (an ender pearl in my example), and place the matching item there. A hopper connected to that chest could then remove the actual ender pearls, but leave the template untouched.
This could also help prevent children from messing sorters up by taking items out of chests.
