In Minecraft, players usually craft a wooden pickaxe, then immediately replace it with a stone one, and so on. Early tools quickly become useless and end up taking inventory space or being discarded.
I suggest adding a tool upgrade system through the crafting table. For example:
-
Place a wooden pickaxe in the crafting table with 3 cobblestones → it becomes a stone pickaxe.
-
Later, combine that same pickaxe with 3 iron ingots → it upgrades to an iron pickaxe.
-
And so on with diamond
This would make tools feel more meaningful and personal. Players could enchant a stone pickaxe early without fear of losing it later, since they could upgrade it while keeping the enchantments.
It would also reduce waste and make the crafting system more immersive and rewarding for new and experienced players.
