Lava in the nether should have more life in it. There should be a lava nautilus that spawns in lava oceans in the nether. It should commonly come near the shore and to the surface where you can tame it using redfish, which you get by fishing in lava in the nether. When you tame it you can saddle it and ride it, and while you're riding it you get the breath of the nether effect, which lets you immune to burning from lava, and you can see under the lava with it as well. There will also be a zombie lava nautilus, which is also tamable, if you can get their hostile rider off, which will be another new hostile mob that spawns under lava, the Scorched. The Scorched is a mob similar to a drowned, but it spawns under lava in the nether, and it's coloring is drastically different. It stays under the lava, unless it's chasing you and you run out of the lava.
