I think that the jab attack of the spear shouldn't have a lockout based on the attack cooldown.
Rather I think it should function as such:
Your reach will be proportionate to the fullness of the attack cooldown's progress (similar to a feature in the old combat snapshots), as will the damage much like any other weapon when attack prematurely.
If you have the lunge enchant, based on how much the attack indicator is full, it will lunge you with a proportional value of its full lunging ability, so if you spam attack with lunge 3, it won't lunge you far at all, but if you wait longer, even if not completely filling the attack cooldown bar, your lunge will be significantly more powerful than if you lunged at a less full attack cooldown.
