The current Lunge enchantment is really fun to play with, until you realize this cool new movement mechanic is locked behind a grindy durability system, making it completely unviable in survival. I think there are better option to punish Lunge jabs than durability; like the hunger bar.
Draining hunger when lunging will keep parkour viable/actually possible with a much more interesting tradeoff, while also making combat a bit more dynamic (you can’t just bring a few spears to spam Lunge, instead you’d become vulnerable after a Lunge and would need to recover to avoid losing sprint).
When Lunging, the hunger bar should bob a lot to indicate that lots of exhaustion was applied. Ideally, I think 1 jab causing 4-8 exhaustion points (-1 full haunch at level III) would be a good balance.
Having durability as the price seems way too grindy and punishing, regardless of if Mending is available or not. Durability as a mechanic is already frustrating enough with current state of anvils, at the moment I don’t see anyone ever using Lunge outside of minigames.
