    I think, at the very least, they should remove the durability cost of the enchantment when not hitting anything, so that one can jump around with it without destroying their weapon on the air itself.

    It does not work with mending for some reason. Was testing in my superflat world set to survival. Can not put both on.

    It turns out Lunge works great as a great movement tool that is very accessible in the early to mid game, Especially the 2 and up levels of the enchantment paired with wood tier spear and its fast attack cooldown, creates an terrific Jump-Dash combination that's an extremely fun skill based method of traversal and parkour. Unfortunately the current durability penalty can consume the lower tier spears in just few uses, making the setup useless in survival gameplay. Removing or Altering how the durability penalty is handled would remedy the issue and make the lunge enchantment the explorer's new best friend. 

    For the alternative ways of handling thee durability i propose:

    the durability penalty scaling with the weapon tier instead of enchantment tier as it is now, the heavier the spear the more durability lunge consumes with wood consuming almost none and ntherite consuming the most, maybe even more than the current penalty. (logically consistent as all the spear tiers share the same handle material so it makes sense that heavier tips would put more strain on the humble stick)

    Durability being consumed on dealing damage and hitting a block (rather intuitive as it would be consistent with the way other tools handle, and also "why would it be damaged from literally poking the air?")

    I suggest leaving the 8-durability cost for Lunge I as is, but level II and III should only cost 16 and 32 instead. Double the costs instead of quadrupling them.

    Why should launching yourself a few blocks forwards cost 128 durability? Keep in mind that Lunge adds no extra damage to the jab attack, you're just paying up to 128 durability to launch yourself a few blocks forwards. They need to:

    • Make the lunge cancel vertical speed if you're falling so you hang in the air for longer, and
    • Remove or massively decrease the durability cost (Lunge 3 should cost no more than 8 durability), and
    • Make the lunge add bonus damage to the jab

    Lunge should at least be compatible with mending, that would make the durability cost somewhat bearable

    On YouTube someone said that the lunge should take hunger instead of durability which I agree with. That and making mending usable with it.

    I disagree with Mending making it bearable, you’re just moving the problem back and making yourself farm XP to repair the tool. It’s slightly better but not a solution to making lunge viable imo

    Please make lunge compatible with mending at least, even if that makes the obnoxious cost stay the same. Costing a netherite ingot to repair the spear after every few lunges will make it a completely unviable option in survival/hardcore world.

    My proposed values for damage would be:

    2 or 4 damage for Lunge I

    4 or 8 damage for Lunge II

    8 to 16 damage for Lunge III

    It's definitely wayyyy too high right now </3

    The latest snapshot has made mending usable with it but still like 60 lunges break your netherite spear.
