Make a world type where multiple people are co-owners, and everyone can edit and play at the same time. The world only runs when someone clicks play, so it doesn’t run 24/7, and it works well for up to about 5 people. Progress saves for every account, not device, and non-owners can join as normal players. Loading might take a little longer, but that’s fine. This would let friends play together like a free, built-in Aternos, without needing multiple worlds or third-party servers, while keeping the classic Minecraft experience.
Co-Op Worlds would act like normal worlds when offline — saved locally or to the cloud — but when one of the co-owners clicks Play, the world activates and starts saving progress to the cloud. That way, all owners share the same world file and progress no matter what device they’re on.
If one of the co-owners is online, their friends (who have permission) can join, just like joining a friend’s world normally. When everyone leaves, the world automatically saves and goes inactive again, like Aternos or sleep mode in Realms. This means it doesn’t stay online 24/7 and doesn’t need a subscription or full server power.
It’s basically a shared world that only “wakes up” when someone plays, and “sleeps” when no one’s there — keeping it free, lightweight, and easy to use.
