I agree, wam light is cozy generally, and on torches makes sense, but a lot of builds look awful and dark with it implemented so strongly and across the board. For example my main base is largely white concrete and smooth quartz inside, its meant to have a clean aesthetic to be a place where I can look at colors and think and plan builds, sort of a blank slate. Its a large bright open space, and its dark and feels like a cave now.

More than it effecting any one build though, it simply changes the appearance of colors too strongly. White concrete, the most bright and flattest white color in the game, looks yellowed due to the effect when its any more than one block away from the sea lanterns I use for lighting, and the yellow look is substantially more pronounced with every block further away. This means you literally cant use white as a color inside of a build without sky light exposure. The end product will always have a yellow/brown tint to it, and that tint will be splotchy and uneven in almost any build.

I think a possibility could be to have it implemented differently with different lighting blocks. Blocks which make sense to have particularly warm light, torches, camp fires, magma, lava, could have warm lighting. But we should have the Option for lighting without those effects. Blocks like sea lanterns, end rods, and frog lights for example, look closest to florescent bulbs in real life and could keep the cooler looking lighting that preserves the visual colors of the blocks around them.

I agree, this should be reverted. Even if intended, mojang should consider the fact that lighting is a very important part of a build, and every single build made until now has been made with the prior lighting system in mind.

Though yes, torches and light sources in general did have a yellow tone to them, it wasnt this overwhelmingly noticeable. In areas that have enough light, you could well say the lighting is white, which is quite neutral and fits everywhere in the game.

The lighting has been made to just look extremely uneven, very white right next to the light source and very yellow at its edges. This change has ruined the Copper Age Drop for me.

1.21.9 in the nether is darker and cold light.

With night vision effect the light is lower than without light.

Plase revert this change of light becuse is not good.

Yea the whole backrooms lighting thing really sucks, it just overpowers block color so hard and outright ruins anything modern or uses bright colors and really hurts almost everything else.

Agree. The warm lightning looks pretty sick in builds.
Yellowish hue all over. Ruins them.
We want the previous one back!

Looks all around yucky. I think most of the community would agree this is an unwanted change

This also affects night vision for some reason, making everything darker, bluer

    Please revert the lighting changes

It would be nice to have options for warm light, but it's not good for all lighting to be so warm, this seems like such a strange decision. Playing post 1.21.9 for the first time and it's extremely jarring.

This lighting change has ruined my builds. Why change something that isn't broken?

Agreed. Lighting from light blocks like torches has always been kind of warm, but with 1.21.9, I also noticed the glow is way too strong (yellow/orange). I noticed this while building my new house and started wondering if something was wrong with my game options or GPU settings.
I understand why this change was implemented but the effect was way overdone in my opinion. The old lighting was perfect, so why change something that works? Please revert it.

Completely agree, it's almost as if there's a massive clash with shaders too, I've used Sildur's shaders for so many years and now playing with it looks really odd, my shulker boxes are basically glowing, everywhere is so much darker despite lighting levels being at bay.

They need to either add more settings to battle this, as tinkering with my settings has changed nothing and boils down to a Minecraft thing, or completely remove the feature, cos it's really off-putting.

Please let this be fixed or turned into a Vibrant Visuals toggle. This is not a good first impression of graphical changes to Java: more jarring than the Jappa texture update and out of player control.
