Currently, copper hanging lanterns always display green fire because they're based on the copper torch. However, for iron lanterns, the flame color depends on the torch type (such as regular and soulfire torches), not the lantern material.
For consistency and to give players more decorative options, I suggest the following:
Iron hanging lantern with green fire (crafted with a copper torch).
Copper hanging lantern with normal yellow fire (crafted with a regular torch).
Copper hanging lantern with blue fire (crafted with a soulfire torch).
This way, the flame color would depend on the torch used in the recipe, rather than the lantern material. It makes more sense and would provide variety for builders without breaking the current system.
(Hanging lanterns with redstone torches would also be great, but the request is from the one above; I assume there's already a request for this.)
Thanks for considering this idea!
