spears should be throwable

spears in history are both melee and ranged weapon it would be moronic to not have them be throw able when you even have a tridents code right there, plz don't be stupid

    They should. But without loyalty. They should stay in the target and than fall off after the target dies.

    It should be thrown by charging it by looking up a little bit.

    Take away the only identity and use that Tridents have, sure great idea.

    You're also suggesting that they make the Spears look like Tridents because it needs a 3D worldmodel, I'm sure you can see how much of a down grade that'd be

    The problem is that what mojang presented as a "Spear" is actually a Lance... Yeah doesn't make much sense, like the "Flint and Steel" being made with Iron instead of Steel. Whatever, I hope they change the name of the Spear to Lance.

    They should be thrown instead of hold for the charge attack while not on mount. Charge should only works on mount so it makes sense.

    Personally I'd like to see them enchantable with loyalty. It would replace the charge mechanic with throwing. That way people who want throwing can have it, but it with interfere with the regular spear. (and gives loyalty another weapon it can enchant)

    I actually very much agree with this. In fact, I was cofused at first because I thought they already added this. Make it throwable but really short range. Make it a lay man’s weapon. Because then it doesn’t really take away from the tridents identity, the spear is short range and has all its quirks,

    I kinda fear that making it throwable would make it clash with the Trident. One of the things that makes the Trident unique is its ability to be both thrown and used as a melee weapon, just like the spear would be. I think they would need to differentiate how it would be thrown if they were to add this feature, like making it throw in an arch, for example.

    Making it throwable would make the trident essentially obsolete, so renaming the spear to the more fitting lance would be a better choice

    I think they should leave it as it is, tridents already exist as the throwing weapon, why add another one to do the exact same thing? We also shouldnt rename it to a lance because lances are completely different from spears. Just because you happen to be using it like you would a lance doesnt change what the item is... and spears are used off of mounts, which lances arent, so thats why its a spear and not a lance, because you use it on and off mounts.

    Well, the name and actions contradicts itself. Mojang either needs to change the name or simply make it so that you can throw the spear

    Sooo basically a trident, but better? And 20x easier to get? And craftable? And also used by like all mobs?
