    It could be capped  on maybe camel dash speed as a refference.

    The base damage + the speed based damage. No multiplying, no acceeding past a damage cap that needs to be added.

    The spear is far less risk vs. reward than the mace is. I understand maces having a need for gaining more damage, but after so many blocks it should cap... The spear is so easy to use it appears that there is just no way anyone will survive fighting a player on a horse.

    capping both mace and spear attack could be reasonable, however keeping weapon work differently from other stuff seems necessary to justify it existing

    Respawn anchor and End-Cristal pvp are bad basically because the 1-hit kill: there's no time to react. Maces could be an exception, as they are best to surprise attacks. However, players still could change weapons and armor while fighting, though this means the need of some skills to do it correctly, also means that the combat system is made for speed of actions rather than strategy and planning, in other words, you can't "craft" your victory by reacting wisely, but just acting fast.

    I don't think a removal of the mechanic is necessary but it absolutely needs a damage cap, especially when it automatically hits multiple people on contact without the need to time it
