The thing is Nautilus and Pufferfish are not something your average joe has access to unlike frogs and fireflies. Plus Minecraft nautilus are clearly more fantasy inspired. I don't think they should change it.

Oooooooh!!!! Good point! New firefly-and-frog situation here! It’s safe to say that Mojang is no longer animal-friendly. Slime and magma are worse to frogs than fireflies, dogs can eat SPOILED MEAT, and the Nautilus, an animal UNDER THE RISK OF EXTINCTION, is tamed with what is otherwise poison (to both humans and nautili).

How is a normal child supposed to access a Nautilus? Not only are they extremely rare, but they are also:

    • illegal to hunt in the United States and other countries being a protected species.
    • only found in the deep waters of the tropical Pacific and Indian Oceans.
    • not a suitable pet for a home aquarium hobbyists, more or less children.

They eat dead fish, crabs, shrimp, lobsters, (other crustaceans). They are scavangers that dig through the seabed searching for food.

Following this logic, the ability to ride them should also be removed. That would harm them in real life!

    JELLYFISH. I TELL YOU, JELLYFISH.
Jellyfish can also have their own uses. Heh, the Gel.

It can be used to coat torches for it to be placed down underwater, however, the best part, you can also coat redstone with it, allowing for underwater redstone contraptions.

Strongly disagree here. In the Live, it was stated the Pufferfish thing is following "Minecraft Logic"-- that being, Pufferfish mean Water Breathing. And so, it's not real life logic, it's Minecraft Logic. I hope it remains this way-- Pufferfish are a much cooler item to feed the Nautilus mob than Kelp or Seagrass. We need more of this, because situations like Cows, Sheep, Llamas, Goats, and Mooshrooms all use Wheat to breed, which is too many mobs for one food in my opinion.

Let us not repeat what happened with fireflies. These clearly are giant fantasy nautiluses and not those we'd find out in the water.

Though if you WANT to raise awarness, I would make it so the different foods have a lower chance but using pufferfish also inflicts debuffs like poison and slowness, encouraging more experienced players to be more mindful when feeding it.

Its most likely going to happen the samething as with frogs.

First players: We want a new mob! Mojang adds the mob. Players doesnt like what the mob does/eats. Mojang changes it so that it is, lets says more stupid than before.
Second Mojang: We do a lot of research before adding something. And then this happens... I thought Mojang cant add a mob that is more useless than the happy ghast. Well Mojang taught me wrong. When are they going to listen to the community?!

The ability to ride them is fine because these are a massive variant from hundredthousands of years ago. So I do not see the problem, it is a videogame and therefore it does not need to perfectly mirror reality. Only needs to be believable.

Happy Ghast is one of the most useful mobs in the game. You can transport multiple boats with it using ropes and have mobs in those boats or just connect the mobs directly. Only drawback is its speed.

This would be a good opportunity to add the crab tho.

I think the best way to fix this would be to rename the Nautilus to the Ammonite, as making it an extinct animal rather than a living one would be less confusing to younger players, and fit more with the fantasy exception that Mojang said they would make for the Nautilus mob

Mojang, don't take out pufferfish like you did the poor firefly--just make it so Nautilises just attack fish instead!
