Currently, when you open a world to LAN in Minecraft Java Edition, anyone on the same network can join without restrictions. It would be very useful to have an option to enable a whitelist or set a simple password for LAN servers. This would improve security and allow players to control exactly who can join their LAN world, similar to how whitelists work on dedicated servers.
For example, I recently opened a LAN world to play with my 6-year-old child. Suddenly, another player managed to join without our permission and started griefing: they spawned entities, destroyed builds, and ruined the world we had been working on together. This was very upsetting for my child and shows how vulnerable LAN play can be without any protection.
Adding even a simple whitelist or password option would prevent situations like this and make LAN play much safer and more enjoyable, especially for families.
