Minecraft has always encouraged exploration through unique structures, from desert and jungle temples to more recent creations like the Ancient City and Trial Chamber. However, the game could expand even further with new Dungeons, offering adventure, loot, mini bosses, and challenges that feel like custom adventure maps.
Core Mechanic
When a player gets close to a Dungeon, the boss applies a special effect that disables placing or breaking blocks, similar to an “adventure mode effect.” This effect only goes away if the player defeats the boss or leaves the area. This prevents shortcuts or wall-breaking, ensuring that players enter through the main entrance and experience the Dungeon as intended.
Examples of Dungeons
Desert Pyramid: secret passages, giant scorpions, scarabs, creepers, explosive traps, mummies (the Pharaoh’s workers), and a Pharaoh as the final boss awakening from his tomb.
Jungle Ziggurat: focused on redstone puzzles, arrow and spike traps, labyrinths, Mayan skeleton warriors, and rolling boulders.
Deep Dark Dungeon: linked to the Ancient City’s lost civilization, built of deepslate, with necromancers, undead mobs, and a necromancer master as final boss.
Asian Fortress: inspired by Chinese castles, with terracotta undead soldiers and a resurrected emperor as boss.
Nether Dungeon: a prison or fortress for criminals, with mobs adapted to the Nether.
