The Sniffer adds a great ancient feel to Minecraft and its plants look fantastic, but right now they mostly serve as decoration. They could become much more engaging if they had simple, intuitive mechanics tied to other systems.
My two propositions:
-
Pitcher Plant – Fits its watery theme by enriching its surroundings. It could darken or lushen nearby grass and let farmland in a small radius (about 2 blocks) stay hydrated even in the Nether, opening up new farming options.
-
Torchflower – As a heat-based bloom, it could dry or desaturate grass color, giving players a landscaping tool. It might also lightly damage or ignite entities stepping on it (balanced with a small 1–2 block effect radius).
I feel like this addition would help the sniffer flowers feel like part of Minecraft’s living systems rather than isolated decoration. It would also give players more of a reason to collect and experiment with Sniffer plants, making the world feel more dynamic and responsive.
