You should can make patterns on shields and you can upgrade them. You have not made a shield update i mean come on shield what shield is it. You should make kinds and strengths and even enchanted books (besides unbreaking) for them you made a upgrade for ghasts i think its good but what about shields it was left like herobrine (not that i believe in him) i just think you should you know make it have a little more well just more i don't care if you just make a netherite shield i just think it needs more to it.

    That's a good idea, I also would like to see kind of upgrades for the shield, like with an ancient kind of ocelot skin, but instead of being obtained by the animal itself, it would be founded in structures, like jungle trail ruins, and an enchantment that could make the shield sound like the famous "aztec ocarina" when fighting with illagers, undead and other mobs in any kind of jungle, in mangrove swamps, and in the new forest: the rainforest, also could be customised with ancient patterns founded in ruined structures like the armors.

    I also propose another idea for the shield:

     

    The traditional shield crafting shape stays exactly the same (the "Y" shape of 6 planks), but the top-middle slot changes to determine the shield's outer plating: [1]
    • Wooden Shield: 6 Planks + 1 Wood Plank/Button in the top slot. Lowest durability; splinters or disables easily against heavy attacks. Good against Zombies and Skeletons but takes 50%  durability damage from a Creeper blast.
    • Stone Shield: 6 Planks + 1 Cobblestone/Stone in the top slot.
    • Copper Shield: 6 Planks + 1 Copper Ingot in the top slot.
    • Iron Shield: This is the current default shield recipe (6 Planks + 1 Iron Ingot). Its base model should be retextured to clearly show full iron-plated borders instead of iron at the borders
    • Gold Shield: 6 Planks + 1 Gold Ingot. 
    • Diamond Shield: 6 Planks + 1 Diamond. 
    • Netherite Shield: Upgraded from a Diamond Shield at a Smithing Table using a Netherite Upgrade Template and a Netherite Ingot. It is fireproof and grants knockback resistance. Can also be built using 6 Planks + 1 Netherite Ingot

    The ability to apply a Custom Banner to a shield MUST remain completely untouched. Players can still combine any tier of shield with a banner in a crafting grid. The banner pattern layers beautifully over the faceplate, while the distinct metal borders (like Copper, Diamond, or Netherite) frame the edges
