I'd like to propose a new world generation feature that makes the terrain loop, similar to a planet.
This feature offers three key benefits:
-
Fixed Biome Locations:
It would allow for predictable biome placement. The poles could be cold, and the equator could be hot, making the world feel more realistic and organized. -
No Far Lands:
This would prevent world generation glitches, ensuring a stable and consistent world. -
Role-Playing and Nation-Building:
It's perfect for creating immersive worlds for role-playing or building nations, adding a strategic layer to exploration and large-scale projects.
Proposed Functionality:
This would be an optional setting with adjustable dimensions (e.g., X blocks by Z blocks). A 1:2 aspect ratio (e.g., x360,000×z180,000 blocks) would be a good starting point.
-
When the feature is ON:
East-West Looping: The world would wrap around horizontally.Traveling too far east would bring you back to the west side. The +x direction is east, and the +z direction is south. -
North-South Movement:
The vertical movement would mimic how latitude works on Earth. You wouldn't hit an edge. Instead, traveling continuously south would wrap you around to the opposite side, now heading north. -
Compass:
The compass would always point north, providing a consistent navigation tool. This feature would create a world that feels like a small, self-contained planet, offering a unique new way to explore and build.
