Making Amesthyst more useful

I have heard that Mojang wont make amethyst into buildable block like quartz (stairs, slabs, etc). BUT all amethyst is quartz, but not all quartz is amethyst. And since amethyst have very little uses, more specifically uses that don't laregly impact gameplay, i suggest making amethyst into a more decorative stone. I think stone and crystal lovers would really appreciate that.
