This is a soul-based magic system where souls are harvested from undead mobs (skeletons, zombies, etc.). Souls function like an intangible resource (similar to XP), gained passively via cursed gear or Artifacts. Over time, collected souls "evolve" gear into unique variants, inspired by Minecraft Dungeons’ tiered equipment.
Core Features
1. Artifact Slot:
- A new dedicated inventory slot for Artifacts (e.g., soul-capturing amulets, quivers, totems).
- Artifacts grant passive abilities (e.g., resistance, luck effect), or active abilities (a new key needed).
2. Soul-Driven Gear Evolution:
- Cursed Enchantments: Apply new curses to tools/weapons/armor witch allows the item to absorb souls.
- Progression: As souls are absorbed (via kills or Artifacts), cursed items looses the curses and transform into special variants.
- Special variants unique perks: Evolved gear gains enchanted abilities themed freely, based on use or the original curse itself.
Why It Works
- Engaging Progression: Players "feed" gear via combat, creating attachment to evolving items.
- Flexible Systems: The Artifact slot future-proofs for non-soul items (e.g., quivers, satchels).
- Atmospheric Depth: Souls tie undead, maybe the Deep Dark?, and curses into a cohesive loop.
Notes: Souls could be visualized via particle effects, or tied to XP entirely.
