Minecraft needs some more variety to combat, both in PvP and normal game, and I thing weapon classes would be a good way to implement this. There would be 5 weapon classes: Swords, Axes, Knives, Spears, and Clubs, each having a unique enchant. Swords would be the basic weapon, with Sweeping Edge as the enchant. Axes would be slower with a lower DPS than a sword, but higher than a sword if you hit all crits. Cleaving would be their enchant, allowing and extending shield stun. Knives would be fast with high crit but low damage and range, making them the highest DPS in skilled hands but lowest in unskilled hands. They can also be thrown. Their enchant would be ferocity: increased crit damage. Clubs would be low damage and slow but have high stun, giving them a large chance to render the target immobile and unable to attack for a short period. Their enchant would be Breach (yes I know that was supposed to be Mace-specific). Maces would count as a club. Spears would also be low damage but can hit enemies behind the target and be thrown, great for crowd control. Their enchant would be Impaling, repurposed so that it makes the attacks pass through more targets. Tridents would count as a spear. Weapon Class enchants couldn't be traded with villagers, they must be obtained from an enchanting table or loot chest. Drop any of your ideas in the comments!
