With all the new copper items being introduced, I feel that obtaining renewable copper is due for an update, if not a total overhaul. When copper was introduced in 1.17, Drowned could be farmed via Zombie reinforcement spawning for highly productive copper farms. However, in 1.21.2, a certain bug was fixed (namely the one in which Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Husks, Drowned, and Zombie Pigmen could spawn a reinforcement Zombie, though now each Zombie variant spawns one of their respective members), effectively killing all of the most productive copper farms. Now, the only way to obtain massive amounts of copper is by mining, dismantling Trial Chambers (neither of which are renewable), or clearing a perimeter for a massive Drowned farm (a monumental task for the average Minecraft player).
What I would suggest is to make the copper drops from Drowned similar to gold drops from Zombie Pigmen – there should be a 50% chance that a copper nugget would drop from a Drowned upon death in lieu of a copper ingot at 11%. As such, copper ingots should still only be dropped when killed by a player. To sweeten the deal, killing a Drowned with a sword enchanted with Looting III should give the player a 5.5% chance of dropping up to three copper ingots, compared to only one gold ingot with the same chances when killing a Zombie Pigman with the same sword.
If this suggestion isn’t considered, please keep the goal of feasibly renewable copper in mind. The community will thank you.
