I think with all the new Copper features being added in the next drop, this would also be a good opportunity to be able to use the ore in rail transport. There's two main ways you could go about implementing this:
Idea 1: Place copper blocks under the rail to speed it up - In order to make Minecarts go faster, players must place copper under rails. Placing them under powered rails gives minecarts more of a speed boost than they did before, and placing them under along the entirety of the track (including normal rails) increases the maximum speed cap for Minecarts on those coppered rails (this idea is taken from a server I was playing called CivMC).
Idea 2: Create two tiers of powered rails - Make two levels of powered rails, the preexisting one and new one called advanced powered rails. The ordinary one would be changed to use copper instead of gold, and the advanced recipe would use gold instead. The normal tier functions similar to the powered rails we have now, but with a slightly increased speed boost, while the advanced one would give a much more substantial boost. This idea also involves changing theax speed cap to a higher value.
Implementing these ideas would give players a reason to make railways, it would fit perfectly into the drop, and would also allow for an opportunity to add the new minecart physics later.
