PLEASE revert the changes made to shelf item/block displays, the current iteration is extremely detrimental to player expression.

‪Even outside of the banners not making as nice of signs anymore, the other items being so tiny is bad for accessibility, and makes them less efficient for labeling things like chests. They’re hard to see, and would be especially hard for a little kid trying to label their chests to differentiate.

I’m genuinely not sure why anyone thought this one was a good idea.‬ The item display was PERFECT first try when they first showed the shelves, I didn’t see ONE person with any gripes and the centered large items gave ENDLESS creative and decorative opportunities, it’s weird to see such uniform acceptance and praise of a feature and then watch the Mojang team immediately change it for the worse. I’d love to see the item display changes reverted to being larger and more centered in the block. Or even JUST larger. It doesn’t make sense for the items to be SO small. They look like ants.

Even if we ignore the possibility of building, when we consider items, it is impossible for angled items like swords, pickaxes, and sticks to stand upright at that angle, so in that respect I think the previous is superior.

The items were also made smaller.
    This ALSO need reverting.
The bigger items made the shelves fantastic for decoration, especially with creative banner usage in the shelves.

And also fix the block size so its not STUPIDLY small and is in line with how the blocks look dropped and in item frames

Better alternative would be to shift right click between middle and bottom depending on what preference you have

We all accept that items "float" within an item frame, I don't think of shelves much differently than a new type of item frame with different functionality.

I understand that "gravity" would make items rest against the bottom of a shelf -- but we already accept that most blocks in the game don't obey gravity anyway.

Nobody would ask for items in your inventory or hotbar to rest against the bottom of each slot. Items on shelves looked better and were more easily distinguished when they were larger and centered.

I'd like it to look the same in both Java and Bedrock, taking the route the old version of the Bedrock preview took. Very big and centered

There should be an option to toggle between middle and bottom

I agree and believe the recent change of this weeks snapshot is disrupting to the community's creative capabilities when building and coding. Plus for pete sakes, the original looked nicer.

This is basically the copper bulb all over again. Please, fix this. I don't care about realism. The game is a fantasy game for a reason. The version before looked so much better

Agreed, previous version had better creative possibilities. we are on minecraft, I don't care to have "Real Looking" blocks, I want to be creative as much as possible, and in this case the way it currently is, it's not creative friendly at all. Please Mojang revert this change....

I see some players complain about this change and some that don't so i think about adding a way to choose from this options: a wrench or just a keybind, i don't think the designs are bad but they should be choosed manually from the player, thanks

Edit: (choosing between an hook or no)

i understand that placing items in bottom makes it more realistic (and i guess it makes item frames more unique), but in minecraft i dont want realism. i want aesthetic, and new possibilities. that's why im voting for changing back item placement.

items on shelves should be in middle if it is supposed to be display and hotbar swapping tool, when they are on bottom, you cant see well items too high, limiting where you can place shelves and use them

I was hesitant about the shelf block at first, but I grew to love it for its building potential—both the back and the front (with the centered items). Now, however, the items are smaller and placed at the bottom of the block. This makes very little sense to me, as it greatly limits the shelf’s potential and creative uses. Now it just looks weird and out of place.
