With the newest snapshot adding copper torches and lanterns, we now have three types of lanterns: regular, soul, and copper, each crafted with their corresponding torch. What is unique about copper lanterns, however, is the fact that they are crafted with copper ingots and nuggets instead of iron, giving the actual lantern itself an orange (and eventually teal) texture instead of just changing the “light” colour.
So I propose that lanterns’ frame texture is determined independently in the recipe from the light texture, with iron having the standard grey frame, copper having the orange-to-teal frame, and the torch within being compatible with either one, allowing for six lantern combinations.
A simple and natural addition, I think.
